Support & Finances... CONTINENTAL MINISTRIES is a non-profit organization. Tour members are not paid, but rather sent out as short-term missionaries and are responsible for raising sponsorship for their specific position on tour. This money, combined with offerings taken at each concert and sales of recorded music and other products, covers the cost of touring. Can I raise the money? Yes! Once you have been accepted, you will receive a wide variety of creative ideas on how to find potential sponsors and raise support. We have prepared a booklet which will show you how to prepare for fund raisers, write letters, call on and follow up with any potential sponsors. How much time will I have to pay for my tour? You will be placed on a schedule for raising/paying and sending in your support. It is divided into monthly payments with the total amount due at the end of the schedule established for you. This schedule is critical in helping our ministry meet your tour's set up and ongoing expenses. Please know that we have a staff member available to answer questions regarding your account, as well as offering support raising ideas. We want to do everything possible to help you get on tour and into the mission field. "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." (Proverbs 3:5,6, NIV) How does fundraising/sponsorship work? Continental Ministries will create an individual fundraising account to show credit for those who participate in a tour members fundraising activities. Due to IRS guidelines all money raised and sent in to an individuals account is property of Continental Ministries, a tax-exempt organization. The IRS has a strict rule against the transfer of any of Continental Ministries assets to, or for the benefit of, an individual for a nonexempt purpose. Therefore, individuals may not control any fundraising accounts set-up in their name, nor may they withdraw funds from the "accounts" to use as they wish. Continental Ministries, the tax-exempt organization, must, by IRS regulations, at all times determine how its funds, even funds credited to an individual with respect to their fundraising efforts, are used. All funds must be used for the organization's tax-exempt purposes. Can the money be returned if I decide not to go? Due to IRS regulations, contributions are not refundable in the event an individual does not go on tour. However, if you notify us prior to 60 days before rehearsal camp, contributions raised may be designated as part of your support for the following year, or may be transferred to another individual's tour account (with the exception of Strike Teams and Continental Project groups.) All support raised by an individual who drops off tour after the 60 day deadline will not be held or made transferrable, but will be used to fill the vacant position. If the applicant is offered a position on tour and confirms a position, he/she accepts the responsibility of raising the full sponsorship amount according to the commitment agreed to. Confirmed applicants who wish to switch to another scheduled tour will be subject to a $100 switch fee. Any member on tour who is unable to contribute to their tour due to physical, spiritual, musical, social or emotional difficulties may be dismissed from tour while at rehearsal camp or on the road. In that event, support raised will be applied toward expenses incurred by that tour. This also includes any member who leaves tour of his/her own volition. Is the money sent to CONTINENTAL MINISTRIES tax deductible? Any donation to CONTINENTAL MINISTRIES is tax deductible whether in the form of general gifts or specific tour sponsorship. Can I use my credit card or debit card to pay? Yes. You may use your Visa or MasterCard (or debit card with such logo) so make a payment toward sponsorship, to pay a confirmation fee deposit, or to cover a rehearsal camp fee.
